it's been a really crazy + intense year for me. one of the things that's taken a back burner because of that is this blog... if you go way way back into the archives, you'll find a much more personal + involved voice. a voice that i think i'm finally ready to start re-visiting. as many of you know i've been raising my daughter alone here in nyc. i've been incredibly fortunate to have shot over 60 jobs since April... half of them weddings. i've been a little bit busy. actually scratch that. i've been completely swamped. as anyone with kids knows, so precious little of your time is your own once you have them. between her + running a full time business, there's so little time left at the end of the day for the many many things i'd both like to do + have on my to do list. blogging more regularly + more intently is on that to do list, but often gets pushed out of the way by more important things like reading Aven books, bath time, cooking dinner + of course the huge load of edits, emails + client meetings that have consumed most of my life when not shooting these past months. another thing that has sadly suffered is shooting more personal projects. this is something i'm aiming to really take charge of this next year. i did however squeeze in one pretty epic personal shoot a couple of months ago. i was in out in joshua tree, california shooting an amazing desert wedding + simulatneously collaborated with an old old friend turned incredibly talented stylist. we threw together a somewhat last minute styled shoot with a couple of other friends + i have to say i'm thrilled with the results. we did this whole shoot in about 4 hours, working quick with the ever changing lighting. i was super excited to also involve the help of my good friend Kristen... who was such a blast to get to hang out with for 3 days straight. (by the way, you NEED to check out her blog if you haven't + like to eat. + her instagram is one of my favorite feeds ever...) anyways, it never fails to amaze me what can happen when you collaborate with your friends + do something for nothing. pure magic, that's what. also, you can expect to see more work of a personal nature in the coming months from me... i've got all kinds of plans up my sleeves... in the meantime... here's our magical desert shoot!
please contact kat here for all of your styling needs... + if you liked what you saw here, here's a little bit more of our collaborative magic from another past shoot. lastly an absolutely massive thank you to christian, renee + kelly for being down to model on a hot day in the desert!
