dried pomegranates, urfa, turkey
it's been a long time since i've posted anything on much of a personal nature on here. i thought i'd give a little update on what life's been like lately... i'm breathing deep nourishing breaths these days, since my crazy summer is finally winding down + i'm able to regain a little sanity + a much more manageable schedule. the last six months have included 19 weddings, two trans-atlantic trips, two trips back out to the pacific northwest, two trips to the lovely islands of hawaii, surviving my first NYC summer (heatwave...), a grand kauai 30th birthday celebration, a coney island 4th of july, a weekend in la push, washington, (one of my favorite places on earth), road trip from NYC - MN to visit my grandparents on my dad's childhood lake, 2 flat tires, road trip from colorado - utah - nevada - california - oregon - washington, countless rental cars + trips to JFK, weddings + shoots spanning from boston, to montauk, to brooklyn, to manhattan, to long island, to seattle, to new jersey, to kailua-kona, ... work hard, play hard was definitely a summer theme... although to be honest, i'm one tired girl. i've got my 2nd to last wedding tomorrow, but still a full plate on the personal agenda for the remainder of the year. i'm catching up on lots of album designs, some new personal branding, some more novel reading, hitting the gym again + catching up on some long lost yoga, some doggie training classes for rio my pup... + really preparing to settle in + enjoy a NYC holiday season. i cannot wait for some snowy christmas shopping on 5th ave, + iceskating in central park! there are many NY summer things I didn't get a chance to enjoy because of my hectic schedule, but if you have any favorite NY winter activities i'd love the suggestions! although my iphone 4, seriously blows in terms of reception, i've relied heavily on it for organizing my life. the things app, has helped enormously for day to day tasks, i put every appt. in the calendar, + take meticulous notes in my trusty moleskin at client meetings. i don't think one should ever stop learning, + i learn best from a hands on approach... one thing this summer has taught me is the importance of workflow (which i think i've finally nailed), but also the need for balance + good time management. i was so excited to be able to sign up for the lyon-shop 7 in manhattan beach, ca later this month. i've long admired her use of off camera flash + shadows etc... but also figured that a married mom of two, with a hugely successful business could seriously have something to teach me about about how to balance it all... anyways, can't wait to share what i learn, + get me some in-n-out animal style grub.
i've got some great blog posts coming up so check back soon + have an amazing weekend! xo, brooke
