i've often considered myself really blessed to have a global circle of incredibly talented friends. some of my favorite girls threw me a baby shower last weekend + i think the tablescape can speak for itself of the talent of the ladies behind it. an expression of love can be shown in so many different ways, + we were so overwhelmed to have it expressed to us by our small circle of friends that gathered round to throw us a lil' afternoon fiesta (complete with margaritas, enchiladas, + mexican wedding cookies) + celebrate with us our daughter to be. it's a funny time right now... like the calm before the storm. we're awaiting her arrival + are passing the days by doing long drives, long walks, + some serious beachtime to boot. on a different note : one of my biggest pet peeves about people who have blogs, is that they don't update often enough... + i've found myself sorely lagging on this topic myself lately. so forgive the belatedness of the posts. it's an interesting season in my life, + i'm taking it all in with focus + intention that doesn't always translate to potential blog topics. but speaking of blog topics, i've been tossing around the idea of devoting one post a week to sharing some of what i've learned about the business of photography + the business of what it means to be self employed in a city like New York, 13 months in + so far still successful at it with bookings taking me into 2012. (at which point i'd like to say that the first rule of true success is never ever to take success for granted...) anyways, i've acquired a wealth of information over the past year about all kinds of aspects of running a "successful" photography business in one of the biggest cities in the world with probably thousands of aspiring photographers saturating it's market. if there's a burning question you've got, leave a comment + I'll happily answer it next week... have an amazing weekend. go out for brunch, read a little bit, + take a walk.
