i think the concept of greener grass is a fascinating one. i'm sitting in paradise... looking out at the ocean blue, + sipping kona coffee from a sun bathed perfect 75 degree lanai.... (that's hawaiian for a furnished veranda, incase you were wondering...) + thinking about how nice Brooklyn is in the springtime. + how fun it'd be to take the L-train into Manhattan + go shopping for springtime ramps + peonies at the Union Square Green Market... + how nice it'd be to wander around washington square park, + get an espresso con panna + gelato from eataly, + then wander towards home over the Brooklyn Bridge in the late afternoon... not before stopping by Pasanella + Son Vitners to see my friend Ryan for some rosé tasting in the late afternoon. NY, my absence has made my heart grow fonder... + I've fallen in love with you all over again from this little island in the south pacific. + funnily enough... I know the moment I'm back... fighting the stifling heat of a NYC June, dragging home groceries from the subway stop that's .5 mi away from my brooklyn pad, + rolling my eyes at how much Bushwick can look + feel like a 3rd world country, I'll be pining away for the plumeria scented breeze of a jewel toned kona sunset + a pizza + beer from the Kona Brewing Co. isn't life so ironic?... speaking of NYC, i've got greatest book club that i'm honored to be apart of... that includes some of my favorite NY gals... one of our recent picks was "Just Kids" by Patti Smith. i completely loved this story + have been dying to give it a glowing recommendation to anyone that'll take it. a seriously epic read. i've got 3 others burning to be read on my list right now... completely incidentally they're all about love in some capacity or another... Bell Hooks' "All about Love", "The Secret Live of People in Love" by Simon Van Booy, + "The 40 Rules of Love" by Elif Shafak. i recently heard about a panel at south by southwest that was entitled something to the effect of : "I'm so productive, I can't get anything done" Referring to how busy we are on twitter, facebook, instagram, tumblr, etc... that we lose the ability to get real work done + curate real honest productivity. so with that in mind, i'm signing off to get some essential work completed with the rest of my morning. have an amazing monday!
