From the minute I first heard from Rafe + Caitlin I knew that their wedding was going to be one of a kind... They sent me a long intro email telling me all about themselves, how they met, their amazing proposal story + included all kinds of photos of the two of them + their friends + family. The last line included that :
"Community, nature, family, ancestry, food, kids, birds, herbs and music are very important to us." Their wedding lovingly included all those elements + more.
Rafe + Caitlin both work at the Farm School in Athol, MA.
The Farm School is a sustainable, diversified farm that promotes a learning model based on traditional family farms in New England. Caitlin told me : "We have 12 acres of veggies, a beef herd, a dairy herd, sheep, goats, pigs and chickens. The Visiting Schools program (which Rafe now directs) brings 2,000 urban children a year to the farm on 3 day field trip with their class to learn about physical work and where their food comes from. The Adult Learn to Farm Program (where I work) brings 16 adults looking to shift their careers to sustainable agriculture to the farm for a full year and combines academic study with experience based work education and runs a veg and meat production business that feeds about 150 families in Cambridge. We drive tractors, chop wood, make yogurt, move cows, and grow a lot of delicious food."
Caitlin's brother is the Creative Director of Simon Miller Jeans + hand dyed indigo was a huge theme throughout the wedding day.
I'll let the photos tell the rest, but this was definitely the kind of day I felt so completely honored to be apart of. I hope the photos do it some small justice. Here they are.
